Hello all.

I've built my new pc, and attempted to install windows 10 (from disc) onto a brand new SSD.

However, after setting the boot priority to my DVD drive and starting the windows 10 install, I'm repeatedly seeing the error 'your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart. If you'd like to know more search online later for MEMORY_MANAGEMENT'.

The ram is 2x 4GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR 4 3200MHZ
The motherboard is an MSI Z710A M7 enthusiast

I've tried:

- Checking the ram sticks are seated/reseating them
- Using each of the ram sticks individually
- Checking the bios and motherboard documentation to ensure the ram sticks are in the correct DIMM slots
- Disabling the GPU and using the IGPU
- Checking every lead, cable and power lead in the system is set up correctly according to the motherboard documentation

..all to no avail. I even tried installing windows 7 but this also hanged.

I'm thinking that the windows error message may not actually be the problem as the bios shows the cpu, ram and settings for both correctly and I can even apply an XMP profile.

Here's a couple of screenshots of the bios:

RAM

Hardware setup

Can anyone offer any assistance please? I've tried everything I can think of and am now entering pc builder's hell..

Thanks in advance for your time.

I bought a windows 10 installation disc. However, I even tried installing windows 7 and that also hung.

Could this be a hardware failure (the RAM) or could it be incorrectly set up motherboard connections? I've checked and rechecked (using the mboard documentation).

Also wondering if changing boot priority might be causing this (even though it shouldn't). It's not always necessary. Sometimes you are offered the option to boot from DVD automatically.

I did try applying the XMP profile, it shows as "3200" in the bios...but I still have the error.
I also did change the boot priority, to dvd then SSD.

Finally found the problem. In the motherboard bios, when using 'advanced' settings, there appears to be a 'Enable Windows 8.1/10 WHQL drivers' setting which was helpfully referenced as a footnote near the back of the mboard manual!

I enabled this and the install error disappeared. So all's well and the PC is now up and running =)

Many thanks to you posters who attempted to help me with this (noobish) problem.

Cheers!.
