Hi guys, just got all my parts in the post but i cant get this baby to boot up! :(

Its a abit Fatality mobo, 8800 gts, 2gb geil

It will hang on boot and do 1 long beep with 2 short beeps, I think that means theres a problem with the graphics?

Iv put the 24 pin power and the 6 pin on the mobo and iv put the power in the gfx (if you dont do that it sounds like a bomb is about to go off)

Tried with no ram and i get 1 long beep so its not that

The psu is a corsair 520w

Also theres another 4 pin connector on the mobo that says is for 'auxiliary power to pci devices' do i only use that if iv got 2 pci-e gfxs?

I really really really hope my gfx isnt just dead because now i dont have a pc :(

Thanks for your help

well the 2 connectors that come out the back of the psu thats arnt modular is the 24 pin and a 6 pin, both are plugged in. So do i put a normal 4 pin connector in there? Think i did try this but still did the same thing..

There should be an additional 4 pin connecter that's used to power the CPU. Normally the socket is around the CPU area and the 4 pin connector should slide in one way. If this isn't connected then the PC will not boot. This is most likely the cause of the problem.

Another thing to do is to make sure everything is absolutely seated correctly. Check, check and check again. In the M/B manual, does it suggest that this beep code is the graphics card?

Also, make sure that your memory is in seperate channels and is of equal size in each. Good Luck ;)

yeah 6 pin connector is the cpu one, thats in. Just tried without and you dont get any beeps.

My bro said on the abit site its a vga problem. The bios cant find a vga adaptor to display a error message or something like that.

Iv also been sitting here for 3 hours replugging everything in, re seated the gfx about 10 times now. Its the gfx, but i just dont want to have to send it off and wait another week :(

Its not the memory, thats the only thing i could test with stuff i know works. I wish i had a spare pci-e gfx, that way i would know instantly if its the gfx or not..

it has a molex connector just beside one of the pci-e 1x slots (i think there called that)

make sure this and the other power connectors are plugged in, and make sure you have all the power slots on the graphics card filled, if its there normally you need to use it.

Check that all the power connectors are connected (red, see below)

Make sure the CPU fan is plugged in (green) the RAM is in the right slots (blue) and the PCI-E connector is in the card (purple).

also make sure that the pci-e sli / standard graphics car is the correct way round, if its in sli mode and you only have one card in there i think it wont work, so make sure its set on standard.

heh yeh strange indeed, its defo in sli mode btw. The Green led is on now.

New problem tho, now is blue screens on the flipping windows loading screen.. Format me thinks..
