hi,

maybe consider having a look at core2duo processor, combined with a p35 motherboard.

have a look at the Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 5000AAKS SATA-II 16MB Cache.

corsair 520w should be more than enough to power all that.

make sure the case can take the 8800 graphics card.

go for a gtx over 2xgts in sli mode.

Get a single 8800GTX instead, at the max resolution you'll be able to play at with that monitor dual 8800GTSs would be pointless, an 8800GTX will be more than satisfactory for that res and if you want to SLI it up later on you can slap another one in.

Definately go for a Conroe too.

Got a budget?

£800-£1000

Here:

Quad core and 8800GTX with a P35 motherboard. The RAM you can change if you want. I've always found that set to be good in both my builds even running 4x1GB @850mhz 4,4,4,12 timings.

EDIT: Forgot the PSU. Throw in the 520W corsair for £68 inc VAT and you're just over the £1k mark. To save some cash get a 2900XT instead of the GTX.

Bah double EDIT: Just saw you need a monitor as well. That's gonna send my spec right over budget. I'm tired tonight so excuses all round. Get the 2900XT and an E6320 processor. That should save enough to afford a 20" monitor.

swap the geil ram for crucial ballistix pc5300 kicks the geil into touch
can't believe people still don't know crucial ballistix stuff does 1200 mhz

If you want to spend closer to £800 then heres a spec i did for someone else

Spec423524.jpg

however if your comfortable spending closer to 1k swap the GTS for a GTX. Then with the remaining money get the highest spec core 2 you can afford

thats only as long as the batches are the decent ones, when it changes people will be not be able to get the clocks.

like the look of hp's spec maybe swap the antec gaming for the lian li pc7-plus, gigabyte mobo for the abit ip35-e then update the hard disk the wd 500gb version and 6550 to the 6750.
