Hey All,

I want to get myself a new PC, for gaming, i want it to involve the i7 chip from intel. Anyone come up with some parts, budget is about 2k max. This is what i come up with so far.

CPU: Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366) - Retail
CPU Cooling: Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366)
Motherboard: DFI Lan Party LP UT X58-T3eH8 Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair XMS3 6GB DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz (3x2GB) Triple Channel DDR3 (TR3X6G1333C9)
Case: Zalman GT1000 Z-Machine Case - Black (No PSU)
PSU: Zalman ZM850-HP Heatpipe Cooled 850W Modular Power Supply
GFX: HIS ATI Radeon HD 4890 1024MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Sound Card: Auzentech X-Fi Forte 7.1 PCI-Express Sound Card
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (WD6401AALS)
Optical Drive: Sony NEC Optiarc DRU-860S 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black/Silver) - Retail
Monitor: Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor
Keyboard: Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard (920-000375)

Secondly, does anyone know a site that would build me a custom spec like this, not like most sites (incluing OCUK) that don't let me be completely custom, you have to Choose from the parts they suggest.

Thanks

Carl

Well that looks pretty good to me!! What does that all come too in total? Do you need everything, cos I notice you have keyboard on there but no mouse :p

Im sure if you email OCUK they'll put it all together for you for a small cost. Just get in touch and see what they say. Nobody can link to another site as they would be seen as competitor links :)

Ah ok sorry about the link, i did email them and they basically said no only whats in there own PC configuration.

£2032.67

Had to buy a new mouse about 2 weeks ago, so don't need that. my G15 is on its last legs...so would like a new one, a G19 would be nice but i don't know if my budget can stretch to that...any idea on when its released?

In that case Im not sure then. Only really buy things here and 2 other shops and dont think either of them offer custom building.

Can you build it yourself or do you not feel confident / have the time or whatever? Its not too bad, I was scared for my first build, but had it all up and running in around an hour or so

I really don't have the confidence to do it...i mean its 2k worth or stuff and i don't wanna break it, set it up wrong etc etc, if i can get it built by a site they would have the knowledge to do it properly and also offer a warranty etc

I mean i dunno if i am just going for the most expensive stuff here as i am not that well 'up to date' on computer parts, i notice the Asus Rampage MB it mentioned a lot in i7 Systems, its one of the options in the OCUK configuration builder.

Ill post a system from the OCUK site that i configure myself (and that OCUK will build for me), and see what people think, im sure they could swap a few things in for me if i begged...i mean the PSU they offer to chose from are not very good, maybe they could swap it for my preferred version and i pay the extra/difference.

Well I know on quite a few of their systems they say:

"Note - Specification not exactly what you are after? Drop our friendly Sales Team a call on 0870 443 0880, they will be more than happy to help you make your perfect system."

Thats why I thought they'd be able to make your system for you, maybe they'll be a bit easier going if you jut want a different PSU :p

Im not too knowlageable on i7 boards really, just check the reviews (though most in the shop here say 5 stars so not the most help distinguishing them!). I know Asus make great 775 boards so guess they'd carry over a bit of greatness to the i7 boards too :p
