Hi there,
I'm new to the forums, and looking for some advice:)
I'm looking to build a new PC from scratch, I live abroad atm parts here are bad so OCUK has been a savior, I would like to know any comments/suggestions for the following setup, and thoughts on the cooling specifically, the case/cooler should be enough, its just with the room temperature here being 35-45 degrees in the summer, would be nice to keep it running smooth, current setup has one broken CPU fan, the side of my case off, with a huge desktop fan pointing inside to keep it cool, it works;D but would be nice to have a PC with a proper cooling system ^^

Here are the parts I'm looking at;
  • XFX ATI Radeon 6950 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card [HD-695A-CNFC]
  • Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3 Intel P67 Chipset (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION **
  • Intel Core i7-2600 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail [BX80623I72600]
  • G.Skill RipJawsX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C9 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-17000CL9D-4GBXL) [F3-17000CL9D-4GBXL] <-- 2 sets of this
  • Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 850W V2 High Performance '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CMPSU-850TXV2UK) [CMPSU-850TXV2]
  • Antec 1200 Twelve Hundred (V3 with USB3.0) Ultimate Gaming Case - Black
  • Thermalright Silver Arrow CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA775/AM2/AM3)
  • LG GH22NS70 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM [GH22NS70]
  • LG BH10LS30 10x BluRay-RW / 16 x DVD±RW Drive - Black (OEM) [BH10LS30.AUAU]
  • Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (WD1002FAEX) <- 2 of these

Any thoughts of my suggestions/possible upgrades? looking to keep the price range of £1300 roughly, This will be the first PC i've built myself, so what other things will I need with these parts, how much thermal paste? do i need extra cables/screws?
Thanks in advance
Russell

What you gonna be using the PC for? either way you'll want a k-version CPU so that you can overclock.

edit: seems to be an echo in here lol

•8GB of RAM is now on two sticks instead of buying two lots of 4GB.
•XFX PSU is a Seasonic OEM item just like the Corsair.
•Motherboard supports Crossfire/SLI

Not to sure why you want two HDD's? RAID? you could get a SSD and a 1TB drive instead.

You dont need thermal paste as that comes with the cooler, also I added a 8pin ATX extension cable just in case.

Thanks for the quick replies:) The use is for gaming, as high end as I can get for the £1300 budget,
@sk82jack - overclocking, not a fan of it in the high temperatures, liquid cooling doesn't really work here without a setup that feeds from my pool lol
@ stulid - I have 2TB in my current PC, and its filled with games/downloads^^, I usually partition off a bit for windows, then fill one HDD with games so if i have to re-format I don't have to reinstall/re-download stuff from steam, and the rest goes to music/films/tv.
Don't really like the price of SSD's yet, too expensive for what they are imo,
Your setup looks decent though stulid, any other thoughts on cooling from people? any specific tools I might need to assemble it apart from the standard screwdriver/anti-static band.
Thanks again
