Hi guys, don't post here often but I thought I'd just warn anyone installing these that my PC wouldn't boot after Vista had configured them, messed up my USB!

Had use a PS/2 adaptor to try start in safe mode but even that didn't start. Then I booted my Vista disk as if I was doing a new install and went to System Repair, it did a system restore which worked, only for Windows to configure the same 'updates' upon reboot.

Finally I used the Vista disk and did the same System Restore but rather than letting it confiure the updates and screw up again, I sucessfully started in safe mode after the system restore and restored to a point further back before it was due to configure anything.

Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else, thank god I fixed it cos I'm at uni and about to go home for the weekend lol.

is that from the USB update ? or all the updates ?

I'm using Vista Home Premium.

I installed the USB update OK (KB941600), did the required reboot.

Then I installed the KB941649 'reliability' update, and rebooted. My PC then hung on the Windows is starting ribbon thingy. Gave it 10 minutes then tried rebooting into last know working configuration and safe mode and neither of those would boot either.

In the end I had to put in the Vista install disk and repair the installation, where it gave me the opportunity to go back to a previous restore point. Its working now, but i've not tried reinstalling KB941649.

If you are going to install KB941649, my advise is to turn on system restore if you got it disabled first!
