New phone for GF - up to £200

It's my GFs birthday soon and her current phone is past it's best so have decided to buy a new android phone for her. Looking to spend up to £200.

Looked at the Xiaomi A2 Lite and Honor 10 Lite. Leaning towards the Honor.

Good camera and SD card option are a must hence the Honor being in the frame.

Is there anything else better than either of these at this price point?

Nokia 7 Plus
Better camera than the above phones (especially when you install the Google HDR+ camera app) and it has 2x Optical zoom on the camera as well
Faster processor than both of your suggestions
Nokia have been pretty good with OS updates, this already has Android Pie and timely security patches

The A2 Lite wouldn't be the correct counterpoint to the Honor 10 Lite, it would be the Xiaomi Mi A2 (not lite) as it has the faster Snapdragon 660 processor.

The Honor/Huawei phones at <£200 won't necessarily offer the best camera experience though, certainly not comparable to something that can run the Google HDR+ app with all its algorithmic magic.

Honer 8x Blue edition, you won't get better for the money, have got 6 women onto this phone including my GF and they all love it, camera is perfectly good for the price, edge to edge display with only a small teardrop, and good battery life.

Umm, so I'm torn between the Honor 8x or Nokia 7 Plus now.

If the camera is better on the Nokia, does the Honor outperform the Nokia in other areas?

Agreed, the Nokia has a faster processor, better camera and is Android One so should receive fast updates. It also has USB-C, which is soooo much more convenient than Micro-USB
The only thing the 8X has over it is the 'on trend' notch display.

I bought my wife an Xperia XZ1 for £200 from Amazon a couple of months ago, having already got one myself on a contract. It's a little smaller than the two mentioned, but a good camera and much better processor.

Large top and bottom bezel might not be to all tastes.

Amazon's price is up at £219 now

If someone doesn't mind bezels (although they do jar somewhat in this era of 'all screen' phones) both the XZ1 and Nokia 8 with Snapdragon 835 are good bets performance wise, benefit from the Google HDR+ app from XDA (due to being Snapdragon devices) and are available for ~£200 in the UK.

I just got the Galaxy A40 in at work, it's £160 ish and simply excellent all round really for the price. It looks and feels double its price and the screen is rather good too. It's dual SIM with SD card slot along with what appeared to be a half decent dual lens camera (ultra wide lens not tele).

I've also got other phones up to and beyond the £200 mark such as the Galaxy A9, A8 and Xperia L3. I think I prefer the look and feel of the A40 over all of them.

Seems hard to find the Nokia 7 plus , just the 7.1 with worse specs coming up.

Has it been discontinued?

There are second hand "good" iphone 7 128gb on eBay for £180 at the moment. I know you said Android, but didn't say why that was the case.

It was £199 from Argos. I had an issue with purchasing as I clicked back by mistake once and then the website said it was out of stock everywhere. Tried again half hour later and it went through. May have been low stock left??
