My sister has moved into her new house and wants to get the phone line activated along with ADSL.

Is her only choice to pay BT £125 for flicking a switch their end? Will anybody else do it cheaper?

if its a BT line it has to be bt who do it, if you went to another provider you still have to pay bt for the line, only other choice would be to go to virgin media as they have a separate line but then u can only use there broadband as no adsl

If you tell BT that there was a line in before she moved in (you can tell this by the connection box on the wall) then they will connect her back up for free. They only charge £125 if there was no line previously installed. they will charge three months phone line in advance though as soon as she is connected, they did with me.
