New phone not showing all messages

Bought a 2nd hand 6230 as an upgrade to my 3510i, but it's only showing 12 messages in inbox, whereas I actually have 46 (and that's the amount shown on my 3510i). Anyone got any ideas why this is, because I have no ideas at all

as I just recieved my new phone this morning and all my contacts have been moved over but all my Text messages have dissappeared. new phone is w800i and old was moto v500.

because the info is stored on the previous phone not the sim card

the phone memory is used when the sim is full or you select in the options to use the phone memory over the sim

My dad suggested that, but as far as I can see there isn't an option to select phone/sim for messages on 3510i. I'll have another look though.

You can usually fit about 20 or so texts on a sim card - so I would say they're on the phone some where as well.

i think theres a 12 message limit on the sim card, and anything over that gets stored on the phone.

You can't normally choose where they are stored

happens when i swap sims between my older phone and new one

pc link and software? eg blootooth and say nokia suite

alternatively there will be an option in the new phone to transfer the stuff from the sim to the phone memory, do this then go to the old one and do the reverse transfer from the mem till the sim and repeat till you have all your info.

if you are really lucky you might be able to transfer the stuff via blootooth directly phone to phone but this will probably be one item per time
