Hi all, just after some handset recommendations... Android only please.
Got an S10 I'm more than happy with. Bought from Vodafone outright in Oct 2020 so got an ok deal, main thing was retained my Sim-only (got an old mega-deal with several discounts on it). But battery life has now started to suffer, I've ended up using it more and more work semi-work stuffs and running MS Teams in the background with it linked to a BT headset has hammered it. I've been regularly charging 2x per day with it regularly below 50% around 4-5 hours after charging.
Usage is usual socials and apps. Photos & generally storage of them - just a snapper and nothing fancy (so 128gb storage minimum). I have a Whoop (fitness/health band with app on BTLE), along with generally BT headsets linked for 8-9 hours a day (for calls so probably less than 1h talktime & maybe 1-2 hr music/podcasts). Some mobile gaming, but generally in the evenings so if that runs me down I don't care.
I've always used Samsung S series, do I continue? For someone who likes owning a handset outright so I'm not getting hammered monthly, yet buying a few generations old to get quality & value. Do I continue doing the same? So I'll ring Voda and see is they have S20 or S21 to get prices for a handset only. Or do I start to look at other providers to get something better for less money? Non-S series sammy? Got a few A-series at work (A32/33/34) and seem good phones for the money.
Other half has a Pixel 6a. Can't say I'm very impressed with it and the limitations - Wifi & BT - cause her massive problems.
What else should I be looking at? Probably looking at £300-£500 price range and don't mind something a generation/year or two old, providing it's new and on-par or better spec than the S10.
