New phone! W810i!

This *should* be arriving today. Whats the most important things to get/do to this phone when i get it. Ive heard reflashing it to the R4CK003 firmware is a must do?

Anything else.

Tbh not really, get some new games, themes and ringtones would be the top of my list with the re-flash to the new firmware.
Which network are you with??. The flashing to the new firmware does make it faster and get rids of the flashing light problem...well it did on mine.

Hmmm well according to my phone 003 is the latest firmware even after doing the over the air update via my phone.

gf got her w810i on orange yesterday. dont know what firmware, but it has no flashing problems and is generally a bloody good phone.

How can i upload videos from my computer, does it come with any software to do this (from any format). I cannot see anything to convert them to a different file, if there isnt can you recommend a free way of converting them

What files can i upload, ive trieup uploading mpg's however the phone cant see them :S

Rob, it only plays 3GP videos as far as I know.

Most conversion apps are payware but there's a wee freebie available called 3GP Converter. Edit: The supplied configuration files need some editing so I've uploaded mine here. Stick the two ini files in the 3GP directory and it should work for any modern sony ericsson.

Change the output directory, choose the type of video you're converting then drag'n'drop - job's a good un.

Easily

Press right on the D-pad, let go
Press the * (star key) once
Press left twice
Press *
Press left, let go
press *

This will take you to the "Service" menu.
Select "Service info" (should be first option)
This will take you to the "Service info" menu (no, really?)
Select "Software info" (should be second option
The first line contains the version number. Will say something like "R4CE012" or "R4CF002" or similar.

NB The phone will go through what ever menu's and shortcuts are associated with joystick movements but just ignore them and carry on!

lol do it on a flip phone, got bored so did it on my gf's new Z530i, said shed opened/closed the phone 200times in 48hours since she had it lol.
