Evening all. Being such a lovely day for winter I decided to get out there and get the R a long overdue clean and polish then grab a few pics for the archives.

I posted them all up on the OCUK Motors page so it makes sense to use that. Pics can be found here:-

But here's a few taster pics in case you cannot be bothered to click :)

Thats something I really want to do, only I have no where to mount the camera so it can face the dash when I am driving. Not short of fitting a full tripod in the back (which I dont have)
I'm not really sure what to do. I suppose I could get a friend to hold the camera on it if nothing else?

It pulls well until about 120mph after which aerodynamics catch up on it. I had it up to 140mph quite easy on the long straight at Silverstone and it still had plenty to go. I'm certain it can hit the 160mph given enough of a run.

They weigh 1220kg. Mine will be a little less as I took out the aircon, but have slightly heavier seats. Say 1200kg.

I have a couple of very low res vids on my webspace, but the cameramen swear in both and I dont wanna get another 'holiday' lol

To be honest the gearset isnt that bad. It's the gearbox housing thats weak. They are looking at ways of having it strengthed right now on the owners club because it's usually what lets go first when going for big power. They are discussing having the casings frozen and stuff...

Morba: I know mate. There's a friend on the owners club entitled 'Misuse of R parts' and theres a big gallery of jokers who thought the cheese grater might look good on their corsa, argh!

McHammer: Yeah totally, would be fine off the line, not so sure round the corners though :)

Bear: I'd own either cars. Love them both!

Geiger: No it feels fine at that speed, although I cannot claim to have taken a corner
at that speed.

Energy: I have that video somewhere!

Yeah I would be upset if it took that long to get to 100 lol

Even changing the exhaust and filter for something free flowing makes a huge difference to the way these cars pull through the revs. That alone would knock a second or two off that time.

I'm waiting for someone to organise a day at brunters or the like with timing gear so I can set some personal times. Otherwise 0-100 is pure guess work or with a stop watch which isn’t accurate enough.

Thanks for the comments everyone. They do have a peculiar charm!

Noooo she has never been for sale while I have owned it, and yes it does have a purple to black effect on the front. As far as I know i'm the only owner with that effect as it was done by my neighbour on a whim while I was getting him to sort a rust bubble

The power peaks about 6800rpm, after that your better changing gear. With a bigger turbo it would probably be more useful, but mines only standard so I never bother taking it past 7000-7500
