Hi all, considering a new lens so looking for thoughts/recommendations.

Current setup, Sony A7III, Sony 85mm f1/.8, Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8, and a Tamron 17-28 mm F/2.8.

My phone has now become my main camera for family pics so the 28-75 gets a lot less use, the 17-28 I use for architecture but its the 85mm that gets the most use when I do the odd photoshoot which is normally portrait/fashion stuff.

The 85mm can be a little tight at times so considering another prime to go with it, maybe a 35mm, so my questions..

1. 35mm to partner the 85mm for full length/wider portrait stuff, good idea? if not then what else?
2. If 35mm, then recommendations for the A7III?

Cheers

35 1.4GM is a stellar lens if you have the budget for it.

34GM is the best one
35mm Zeiss is good and can be found cheap - You will read lots about "de-centered", over blown IMO. I had one and it's great but it's a large lens.
35/1.8 is cheap and good value for money.

I think there is also the Sigma 35/1.4 and the Sigma 35/1.2 which are ported over from the SLR mount. I am sure Samyang makes one too but I never tried them.

Sigma 35/1.4 is popular and certainly bang for your buck. However, if you prefer a lighter option, which I find myself drawn to these days, then the Sony 35/1.8 is a solid choice.
Thanks all, for me the GM is too expensive to justify as this is just a hobby for me (one of far too many), I like the idea of the Sony 1.8 with it being nice and light, plus impressed with their 85mm. Will take a look at the Sigmas and see if there are any decent compare videos on YouTube.

Just to close this out I narrowed my choices down to the Sony 1.8 but was also interested in the Samyang 1.8 that was getting some really positive reviews (and had a real bargain price) but decided on the Sony plus Amazon had a cracking deal of one for £419 so was a no brainer.
