New Processor

I'm currently running a P5N32-E with an E6700 overclocked at 3.0GHz. Was thinking of getting an E8600 as a little upgrade. Does anyone else have the same board as I know it's compatible with these newer chips, but i'm a bit cautious.

Yeah I checked the web already. Just wanted to know if anyone here was using the same setup and how it was running and stuff.

Yeah could do... but my little brother is after an upgrade, so thought I would give him my old E6700 and save him some $$$. Plus I think even with the new E8600 running at stock speeds it would peform quite a bit better than my E6700 running at 3.6GHz.

Ok, got my E8600 fitted in last night, all detected and booted up ok. However, can anyone tell me roughly what the stock idle temps should be? My idle temps were 35/32 using a Freezer 7 Pro, does this sound ok?

Also another thing to note was that even though Speedstep was disabled in the bios it would appear that it's still working... as when I'm watching temps I can see the frequency and multiplier going up and down according to work load.

Is there anything else under the CPU section of the bios that should be disabled in order for Speedstep to be properly disabled?

So are those stock idle temps ok using my cooler? I thought they would have been a bit lower personally, but just wanted to check before I start overclocking.
