Hey guys

Wonder if you can help currently I am running an I7 920 C0 overclocked to 3.0 ghz.

Considering getting one of these

Just wondered what your suggestions/comments were?

How much gain would I get from the new processor, currently running a Gtx580 in my system as well.

Just looking for a bit of a boost before the vat goes up after christmas.

Cheers

I strongly suggest you don't make that upgrade. Clock-for-clock that CPU is exactly as fast as your current one, no better. It is clocked higher at stock, and will overclock higher given sufficient cooling. However, assuming you give it top-end air cooling it will likely only overclock 200-400MHz higher than what your existing C0 can reach - this is only 5-10% better.

Unless your C0 is such a dog that 3GHz is all you can get, dont bother. Just get that 920 up further if it starts to struggle. Even a C0 should manage 4GHz on a good air cooler.
