Triangular shaped strips that fit along the side of your car so anyone opening their door next to you dents their car not yours.

Think it will sell?

Had my car a week and already an inch long dent in the drivers door despite parking where nobody else usually parks.

I had a similar idea for on my bike. Barbs on the handlebars so when someone tries to give you a tap with the side of the car you can really gauge the paintwork up :p

Spiked mitts, heel studs and other attire to aid smashing side windows would also come in handy.

I had an awesome idea for bump strips that would be fitted within the door and attached to a mechanism so that as the door opened, they would unfold and wrap around the door edge. When closing, they would fold back in, completely invisible.

I was sitting on this idea for a while, wondering about how I could go about making millions off it, when I saw a review of the new Focus RS and it had them fitted already.

Bugger :/

That video boils my ** Swear words must be fully starred **. Absolutely no excuse to have no respect despite a useful idea. Useful to protect your car and neighbouring cars if the door gets away from you but to blatently think it gives you an excuse to knock it into someone elses car... rage lol typically a woman and kid video, would sell well as women would mainly think it's a get out of jail free card when they slam their door into yours because they don't care.

This, absolutely. I would be absolutely furious if someone did that up the side of my car, but I guess their doors will be just fine so **** everybody else?

A bit of plastic like that Focus might stop paint getting scratched but it's not going to prevent dents when people beat their door open into yours with any force

I'm not sure why you're both so angry....it seems pretty clear that it's just a promotional demonstration, I don't think they're just saying "we've put rubber on the doors, go nuts!"

That's certainly what it looks like, giving the green light to swing your doors open without a care because you have the latest 'I'm alright, Jack' gadget installed.

I know what your saying. I parked in a pub carpark a bit ago which was pretty empty, I parked well out of the way of where all the other cars were.
Came out to find a old banged up white Micra parked next to me which had left a white mark on my door off there door.

I was going to leave them a nice little mark but you wouldn't of noticed it.

Just couldn't believe out of the whole carpark they parked next to me.

It's a smart invention for sure, but I'm saddened that people actually need these when the real answer is to just use a bit of brain and not be a complete ********.

If the strip was on a really perfectly tensioned and damped spring for it's application, it would probably prevent damage even when the door is banged quite hard.
It still doesn't solve the fact that people should be more careful when opening doors, however. A great invention, but it comes down to common courtesy of not throwing your door open every time you need to get in/out.

I wouldn't say no tbh it looks brilliant. My car is low and has a bucket seat so it's hard to get out without opening the door a fair bit, I've banged it on the wall at home a couple of times and damaged the paint :/

I'll never forget the time I was in a car park waiting near the car for someone, a gold Rover pulled into a space in the row opposite and the passenger was an 80 odd year old hag with a face of thunder, right coffin dodger. She flung the door open with all her strength by the looks of it, almighty bang, straight into the one parked next to it. Went over and sure enough there was a big dent with gold paint right down the door. Confronted her about it and she just muttered "Ahh **** off they're only cars I'm not ****ing bothered".

i work for a supermarket and i will never own a nice car to get to work as some shoppers dont give a flying ****..my, car has dints and bumper marks all over it & the amount of time ive seen shoppers hit other ppls cars is unbelievable.....and yes i do leave a little note with the reg on it when i see it happen......so yes defo should be on all new cars
