I've had projectors for close on 8 years now, starting with a Panny AE500, then for the last 4 years, an AE1000, and very nice it was too.
However, with a certain mobile phone retailer pulling the plug on their electricals shops joint venture, couldn't resist the opportunity of a JVC D-ILA unit. The D-ILA panels are supposedly the best technology for projectors on the market (even Meridian have bought in the technology for their top end unit). Unfortunately I didn't have the dosh for the latest generation unit, but a HD550 for under £1500 was just too good to miss.
I could try posting a pic, but it's probably easiest to just say that there is a definite improvement. Black levels, contrast and colour vibrance are a good step upon on the Panny (as you'd expect when the JVC is several generations newer and was considerably more expensive when new.
Certainly does make movies more cinematic and engrossing.
