1) I want to be able to stream media to my PS3. I understand you can do this with WMP11 somehow and with TVersity but what are the advantages of this program.

2) Just played GT5P and really dissapointed that there is no car upgrades/parts that you can buy, or at least I have not seen it yet.

3) I want to be able to play my PS3 on my monitor too which has DBI and VGA. I bought a HDMI to DVI converter which is winging its way to me but that will not include the sound, so how do I hook up the sound to my machine.

4) Should I get Virtua Fighter or Tekken 5, which is better.

5) Whats with the huge loading times, I thought these would be reduced. Also I spent the first hour downloading updated for my PS3 and GT5P which was pretty annoying.

4) they are both very deep, technical fighters, have you played any of them before to help you make up your mind? i would say tekken is a lot more accessible. virtua fighter 5 is a true next gen sequel though whereas tekken 5 DR is just a last gen port with added online play. it doesnt affect the gameplay, just the graphics if that kinda thing bothers you. I have always prefered the gameplay of tekken though.. both can be picked up for cheap (around £15)

5) yep the ps3 blu ray drive is not known for its speed, but theres only usually "bad" load time when booting up a game. Downloading updates normally just a one off, im sure you'll get over it... at least games can keep up to date and get issues fixed

1) You can also stream media via Winamp 5 as well. As people say its easier than WMP, that seems to be really picky. Advantage I'd say will be saving disk space on the PS3.

3) I hope your monitor has HDCP, if it doesn't you wont get a picture with HDMI to DVI. It'll just show up black.

You'll need to use the optical connection if you have any speakers with this connection. As no sound can go over DVI.

2) Is not a question, and do you not research products or games before you buy them? There is more information between here and AV Forums on GT5P than you can shake a stick at.

Nope, it starts to get complicated. With 3rd party devices that can cost a lot etc and can also cause performance hits that I've read.

As I was going to get HDMI to DVI for the Dell2405 FPW, but after reading the ps3forums from people who have tried HDMI to DVI on non HDCP displays results to a black screen. No picture whatsoever, not even in the XMB menus.

There is no way of getting round HDCP really enless you buy a decoder which is illegal iirc.

Best bet is to buy a Component to VGA converter which are around £40-45. They do accept a 1080p signal though.

What about a hdmi to dvi (dont have yet) and then plugging on a dvi to vga adapter (have this) on the end?

If I get a component to vga will there be a loss in quality?

There is an HDMI - VGA cable that supports HDCP for about £50 and it's perfectly legal, look for the HD Fury Gamer Edition.

Daisy-chaining adapters will not change the signal going through them; HDMI is digital, VGA is analog.

Component to VGA needn't show any loss in quality, but I daresay it depends on the adaptor you go for...

I use the HDFury Gamer Edition Cable on a projector and it works fine, though is quite expensive (having said that, about the same price as a VGA box plus appropriate cables).

I ended up buying a Optical Audio and Component/RCA to VGA adapter from a well known auction site (Only cost me a few quid). The HDFury Gamer Edition was really expensive so I decided against that.

Thanks for all the help. All this HDCP stuff is mindbogglingly stupid. The Filesharers get to see pirated films but the genuine people get stuffed.
