I just picked up a PS3 - primarily for use as a media streamer. I am very happy with that.

I do most of my gaming on my computermabob. I downloaded Dead Space 3 onto the PS3 as part of the Playstation Plus trial. I have this on my PC and was interested in the comparison. There was a lot to be said for playing on the sofa through my AV amp and Kef speakers. I really couldn't get past the use of the controller though. I got killed (on the easiest level) by about the third necromorph.

I am just going to avoid any first person or third person shooters I think. Keyboard and mouse is just so much better.

Are there any other games worth me checking out? Any classics from the life of the PS3 that I might enjoy? I am tempted to pick up a copy of Gran Turismo 5 and Tiger Woods 12 - both are about £1 or £2 in CEX. I think for AAA stuff I will probably stick to the PC but I am interested in stuff that might be enjoyable as a diversion in front of the TV.

Is it worth picking up a Move controller for anything? If picking one up second hand what do I need? What about mics for Singstar type stuff or the EyeToy? I'm interested in anything I might persuade my wife to play alongside me...

...also, is Playstation Plus worth having? If so, what is the cheapest way to get it?

Sign up for 3 months of PSN & you can download Dead Space 3 for nowt this month & whatever we get the next 2 months. Last month it was Payday 2 which is an Epic Co Op game.

Games you Must have;

GT5 - Best Racer by a Long way & untold content to be enjoyed for your money.

The Last of Us - Epic is the only word needed here.

I know you said no to 3rd person but you must play the Uncharted games and The Last of Us. Like you I was primarily a PC gamer but once you get into using the controller it's fine. Anyway, those games are some of the very best you will ever play, on any platform.

Wipeout HD is really nice. GT6 is better than GT5 but more expensive (£16.99 used).

I know your avoiding FPS but you can't overlook the Uncharted series, exclusive to the ps3 and very good.

Don't bother with the motion controllers, I brought 2 thinking the kids would use them and they only did a couple of times.

The Last of US without a doubt, probably one of the best games of the generation.

Uncharted series, Infamous and something if you would like to try a try a JRGP then get Ni No Kuni

Last of Us

GT6

Vanquish - not a ps3 exclusive I know but still a great game.

Tekken Tag 2

God of War 3

Warhawk - I don't know if this is still available to play online but I absolutely loved it when it came out!

Uncharted 1 was good, still yet to play the rest.
Heavy Rain is good. It's slow to start but has a great story line. It's like a film but you get to change the outcome.

Mate if your new to PS3 you HAVE to play the Uncharted series, they are simply EPIC. Fantastic story and superb graphics, more like an interactive film than a game, although your very much involved :D
