Right im looking for a new Psu for my new Rig. It will need to be able to run 2x8800GTX's, E6800 Conroe, High End Ram, 4xsata, 2xoptical and attach to an asus striker Board Which i belive needs a 5v power supply. (correct me if im wrong)

I really wanted a modular power supply as well as i dont want all the spare cables dangling around.. what wattage would you guys recommend and what make???? :)

I'd recommend the Seasonic 700W M12 HERE

Quiet, reliable, modular. Should have enough power for your needs.

Edit - I suppose if you were going to do some serious overclocking and wanted that bit of extra headroom, then the 800W Tagan might be more suitable HERE

I don't have any personal experience with the Tagans, but I hear they are good quality supplies.

You'll get adapters with the cards to take 2 molexes and convert them into 1 PCI-E.

Having just bought the Tagan 900W unit, I advise you pay the extra for the Enermax 850, whoever decided this PSU is silent must be deaf !
I have had to shell out for the Enermax cos I can't put up with the noise on the Tagan, and decided as I was going to do that I may as well get the 1KW unit and be done with it
Providing you have the room for the length in your case that is :)

Both Enermax's have 4x PCI-E .... 2 on the hardwired native and 2 on the modular.

can anyone tell me... is the galaxy 850w power supply

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-030-EN

bigger than the norm and if so does anyone know weather it will fit in a p180 antec case / thermatec armour

What is the size of a normail power supply??

i have a pi180 and if that power suppyt is in deed 70mm longer that standard it will cause problems. there is a metal divider in the bottom chamber of the p180 were a fan attaches you can take the fan of of course but the divider will still be there soo it may get in the way of the cables. unless you cut it out.

i have a thermaltake toughower 700 in my p180 and ii love it it has a 14cm fan and is really quiet. they do a 750w version and also a new 850. i would imagine it would get a little noiser at under full load but i cant imagine it being loud
