I'm having trouble booting with my set up and have been advised to try another psu, as the one I currently have, Corsair 620W, I bought second hand about four years ago and could be causing the problem.

My spec:

MSI P67A GD65
i2500K @ 4.6 (1.31v)
HD5850 Extreme
Crucial M4 128G
2 x 7200 sata HDD's
DVD Writer
Silver arrow
4 case fans (120mm)

Will another 650W cope, or should I step up to a 750W and is modular still the way to go? I'm not going to crossfire, nor add anymore HDD's or anything else.

Funds are an issue, as always with me, but I want something to last for a few years and totally reliable.

Cheers.

Forgot to add, it's housed in a Coolermaster HAF912, so a fair bit of room.

Hi,

If you are going to overclock any system I would recommend a branded PSU not a cheap one.

700-750W should be good and if you are thinking about going crossfire soon this will open doors to more options.

Non crossfire - 700W-750W should be good with plenty of breathing space
Crossfire - 850W+ with four pci cables

oh and if your case is small, doesn't have allot of room and your bothered about air flow, yes modular.

If your not really bothered about the cables and want to save a few more £ then don't

Cheers for that, looks like I'll go 600/650 to be on the safe side.:)

Are the OCZ/Coolermaster/Be Quiet range any good, or should I stick with Corsair?

I would look at OCZ, BeQuiet, XFX or Corsair.

I have used several Corsair psu in the past and not had any issues with them.

I'd rather go Corsair, but the cheaper prices are more to my liking, thanks chaps, saved me a few quid.:)
