Last weekend my surge protector & psu (600w enermax noisetaker II) died for whatever reason. Currently using an old PC, therefore I'm in the market for a new psu (minimum: see below).

To make things complicated I was saving up & planning on updating the pc later this year anyway. However I haven't quite got all the funds together at the moment, though that may change.

I've tested the ssd, hdd & dvd drives from the old computer and these still work. Haven't got access to a spare psu for the remaining parts.

Existing comp. is amd 7750, 2gb of ocz ram, gigabyte board & palit 1gb 4870

As for the upgraded computer, I haven't got anything specific in mind be it amd/intel. It's useage would be for gaming, dvds and some cad work & office jobs. Price wise was hoping to spend around £300-£400 and re-use my 1Gb 4870 graphics in the short term until I can afford a better upgrade (now obviously only if it still works)....
therefore I'd need:
Case, CPU, ram, mobo & cooler
Already have Windows 7, keyboard, mouse etc... to use.

Regarding power supply not sure what people suggestions are, would prefer something modular/semi-mod with potential for sli or x-fire in the future.

Suggestions required, cheers :)

Do you also need a HDD+DVD drive? if you have them already, are they SATA?

Is that Win7 the 64bit version?

If you do need a new HDD+DVD and your Windows can address 8GB or more,

Hi stulid, existing HDD/dvd drives are sata & Windows is also 64 bit.

If I do find my existing graphics is dead, what cards are the best bang for buck atm For say around £140? Monitor will be 23/24".
