Just bought OCZ ZX 1000W PSU to replace partly faulty 600w ocz GXS (cant handle transitional loads anymore).

Disconnected my 600w one, reconnected ZX 1000W just to be welcomed by a loud crack and some smoke after turned on.

Just my luck or OCZ had some production problems ? Faulty units ? Never had a psu blow up on me like this, good thing it didn't took out rest of my rig...

Machine is as follows:
GA-P35-DS3R mobo
Q6600 stock
4x1gb Geil ddr2
Inno3D GTX480
X-Fi fatality sound
2 hdds

Nohing special. If not for my old psu conking out every time i touch anything graphics intensive i wouldnt be changing psu...

ghhhhh...

I have just bought a 1200 Watt version of this and whilst its ok (ish) at normal. As soon as some load is applied boy does it screech. I will be taking it out later ASAP and hopefully get a refund. Its clearly not quiet or well built for that matter :(

screeching can be down to coil whine which is normal but considering your history I would be concerned as well. if it is massively loud then look for a change/refund

try forcing vertical synchronisation on. sometimes this cures the very problem you have (especially if you have an Nvidia card)

Funny how this can be called Normal?

Vsync doesnt help at least not on homefront or RO2.

Think i will try and find myself another Tagan PSU with a bigger wattage. The old ones i have had have been rock solid. Shame OCUK doesnt stock them anymore.
