My power supply has 1 x 120mm fan which i changed for a Vantec Stealth one to make it quieter.

When I boot the pc up after approx 5 mins it always freezes even if i leave it sitting in the bios screen.

I put the old fan back in and it works fine.

Is it a faulty fan or something else

Cheers

With a 120mm fan what sort of airflow CFM should i be looking for to be suitable to use in my power supply?

also with a single fan psu should the fan be sucking air out of the psu or blowing air in?

this is the specs of the fan

- Dimensions: 120x120x25mm
- Airflow: 53 CFM
- Power consumption: 0.96 W
- Noise Level: 28 dBA
- Speed: 1500 RPM
- 2 Ball Bearings
- 3 to 4 pin adapter and 4 fan screws included

i'll have another try of it tomorrow

p.s my psu says 'color it 500w' on it

colorsit... the heatsinks will probably be tiny with a very loud and high CFM fan in there to keep it cool.Vantec Fan is probably worth more than the PSU tbh :p

What is it powering?

it's powering:-

amd64 3000 with arctic cooling heatsink/fan (not oc'd)
1 sata hd
2 dvd drives
6600 gt graphics card (not oc'd)
2 pci cards
1 80mm case fan
1 floppy drive
