Hi,

Sorry if this is a daft question, I'm not up on upgrading parts.

I've got a PC that has a 500 watt PSU (from info I've read) but I want to upgrade to a GTX 980 Ti GFX card. Do I need to up the PSU?

If so, what to and does anyone have any recommendations?

HI,

So I went to OC hq and bought a 650 psu and the 980 Ti. turns out this Acer pc uses some stupid 12 pin connector that no other pc uses in the world!

How ^%$%^!

I've gone out and bought a new motherboard. Just need to pop back to OC tmw for a new case and some other bits. This has ended up expensive!!

The white plug is the weird small power one, compared to the new PSU plug

That's the joy of prebuilt PCs from big manufacturers. That and a ton and a half of bloatware pre installed usually.

You're not wrong!

It's surprising how easy it was to plug the bits together and then just install Win8 with no other rubbish on there.

Now I know how this one has gone together, I need never buy a pre-built PC again :)

HA HA ^ ^ ^ :D

So, I've just bought a massive processor heat sink/fan thing and also an adaptor for the weird Mssd drive thing from my old PC. Can rescue my GTA5 game saves :)

Oh, and some purple LED fans.....
