Hi guys, purchased a new PSU from Ocuk which I hope will arrive tomorrow, its to make sure an upgraded graphics card will have enough power as the current one is very weak so im told.

Never really done a lot of hardware maintenance and upgrades, just gfx cards before.

Basically I just wondered if there is a step by step guide for changing a PSU and some do's and donts, ive been told its a pretty simple job to do so I dont really want to be seeking professional help and paying for someone to install it for me!

Any help/hints much appreciated :)

The easiest way to go about it if you arent sure would be to note down what plugs in where at the moment then disconnect the old PSU and just copy what you had before. Changing the PSU is an easy job but it can still be quite time consuming.

Obvious stuff this one, but make sure Everything is disconnected from the mains (and PC itself) before you start pulling out sockets and plugging in your new unit. Sorry for such a retarded statement :)

Also, don't confuse the 8/4 pin CPU Power Connector with the 6/8 pin power connector of the graphics card. People have done so before...and burning death was the result.

Righ guys, thanks for the help and info :)

I think I will jot down on paper and even mark the cables coming from the current one to make sure they are all connected to the right areas.

Any other info would be much appreciated!
