New PSU needed :(

Building my new rig I find the PSU has gone and died on me *cries* so need a new one. I was in the process of ordering the Superflower 1000W Modular PSU but during ordering the price jumped up by £20 so can't afford that now.

I have managed to find a 850W XFX Pro Black Edition 80PLUS Gold Modular Power Supply [P1-850B-BEFX] at a good price but I want to know if these are still made by Seasonic so if anybody knows that would be awesome!

Thanks.

Even if they are Seasonic made, not worth buying one from xfx as they effectively have no warranty. Shame because the xfx PSU i have running my mining rig is awesome!

XFX warranty is very poor, the products are good as they are seasonic, but of course no manufacturer has a zero failure rate.

I agree with the above posts advising you don't need more than about 650w for your system spec.

I would suggest an Antec High Current Gamer 750w Modular unit for future proofing to be honest, they are made by Seasonic, and **touch-wood** I'm here to help with the warranty IF anything does go wrong with it :D

Well went and got the XFX one and it has blown on me first thing (audible pop and burning smell) hell it even took the power cable with it! 2 damn days I have had my new kit and still not got Windows installed *cries*

Wow really unlucky, sorry to hear it bud.

Shame the Superflower is more expensive now, i got one last month and i loved it so much i ordered another recently. I know this isn't very helpful if it is out of your price range but the 10 year warranty the platinum Superflowers offer is worth the premium alone over the golds.

Is that a new PSU or 2nd hand?

Brand spanking new m8, took it back to the place I got it and got a credit note so got another PSU now (a different one since they ran out of stock with the XFX ones).

I'm glad to say that the system is finally up and running after what seems to have been forever, the new PSU is a Corsair RM850 fully modular.

I took some pics to update my build log which I will probably do tomorrow since I took a lot of pics and I need to resize them all!

i have a rm650 and its made by CWT and its perfect for me, no problems whatsoever
the rm850 is made by Chicony Power Technology so i cant say anything about that one im afraid

TBH i would rather buy a RM series over an XFX as all components have a chance of failure and PSUs are not an exception (Seasonic or not). So if it breaks a year down the line rather than a few weeks, you will at least be able to Successfully RMA it rather than the usual XFX procedure.

Corsair have A very good customer support service when it comes to RMAs.
