use to run a ati 7850, then went crossfire, then upgraded to a 1070

current spec is

I7 8700k
16gb ram
MSI 1070 armor
1 hdd
1 ssd
1 m.2 ssd

Going to upgrade to a 2070 super and noticed the PSU was bought on 18 Apr 2012, so 8yrs old now.

Would the recommendation be a new PSU and if so which would be your choice?

Thanks

It looks like a solid and reliable unit with good components so I wouldn't be concerned about it's reliability due to age.
Using the outervision PSU calculator it will be plenty of power for the 2070 super.

ty for the reply, i do worry about the psu taking something with it if/when it dies.

is it common for that to happen or is it usually just a case of not turning on and change it over?

2070 super went in and powered up all good.

I paid only £72.98 for it 8 years ago

Of the past 8 years the psu has 7850's in CF and 1070 and now 2070 super.

Its been on 24/7 for about half its life.

100% thinking a psu upgrade is on the cards

maybe
TX650M 650W 80 PLUS GOLD
LEADEX III 650W 80 PLUS GOLD
PHANTEKS AMP 650W 80 PLUS GOLD
or
CORSAIR RM SERIES RM650 650W '80 PLUS GOLD'

not really sure

Any of those would more than suffice. I'd buy the Corsair RM650 for the warranty (10 years) & having dealt with Corsair personally with RMA's & the turnround time is pretty good, even though the RMA address used to be in holland (I think its a UK address now)

thanks for that info. Have a corsair in the boys pc which has been solid also for more than 10yrs but as its cheap components in there ive not bothered with upgrading it unless something breaks.
