New PSU, Quiet as possible

Hi All,

I have a Gigabyte X58-AUD-7 build with an OCZ stealth xstream 700w PSU, unfortunately the power supply kicks out a slight high pitched whine during use.

I have tried all sorts to get rid of it but Im now thinking a new PSU would be the best route (I also need a psu for my brothers new build and the OCZ will do just fine for him)

So Im looking for a very very quiet PSU that will have enough beef to power my system whilst not emitting capacitor whine.

Silly question, are you positive it's the PSU, as I have a high pitch noise on my motherboard when speedstep is enabled. Wondering if it could be this.

Silverstone PSU's have worked perfectly for me in the past.
running an ST1000P and had a ST75F

not a silly question at all, im pretty sure - have had my head inside the case and can definitely tell is coming from PSU.

Im pretty sure I have disabled speedstep - but will check!

I have heard there are PSU's in which the fan will only start spinning if needed, anyone know which these are?

with speedstep disabled its actually louder
