New PSU required? If so what rating?

Hi,

I've just realised I've had my PSU for a while, its been brilliant and has been 3 maybe 4 builds, its a Seasonic X 750

I was thinking of changing it based on its age and I wouldnt mind nicer looking cabling

Should I change it based on age? I think its 4/5 ish years old, its confirmed as out of warranty and it could last years yet but is worth the risk

If I do change it do I need another 750W PSU?

Sapphire recommend a 750W PSU for the Fury Nitro but they must be blanketing all ratings with that figure, whats the lowest output and rating I should go for if its worth changing?

If it aint broke don't fix it. If don't like the cables I'd just buy a set of customised cables for it TBH.

X750 is a solid unit nothing to worry about it.

Agreed - if you do swap it out, you are running the risk (be it small) of replacing it with a 'dud' unit - you never know if you have a 'good' unit until you test it over time.

So if it's does the job keep it until it doesn't do the job any more

I have a very old Corsair 1000 PSU in one of my builds - it's been doing sterling work for years - no intention of replacing it till it dies

Yeah sometimes I just get the upgrade itch and want to change things

I'm sure I've seen replacement cable kits but cant find them anywhere?
