I've just ordered a pair of 970 Strix's from here and was wondering if I need a new PSU too.

The Corsair TX 750w PSU will be 6 years old by the end of the month.
An online PSU calculator estimates a maximum wattage of 650w, within the PSU's capacity but is it still up to the task after so many years of loyal service?

One PSU stands out as a potential replacement, the EVGA SuperNova G2 (850w or 1000w?).

It should manage it. From reviews I have seen total system power from a single card setup has been 311-350w. Add another 160-170w for a second card and you get 520w with no overclock on the cards. As your psu is 6 years old though would you want to risk it? Personally I would go for one of the EVGA units you are interested in. Even the 750w would be enough.

Thanks.
I ended up ordering the EVGA 850w.
Hopefully it will be sufficient to handle a cpu & GPU overclock.
