Bought a 450w yesterday, to add some extra power for my new GPU, put it in my Fujitsu Scaleo last night and it won't start...

Seems to boot my other PC perfectly well, but for some reason nothing happens with this one.

The mother board has got 2 connectors on the MOBO, a 20 pin and a separate 4 pin slot.

The PSU came with a 20(+4) connector and an 8(2x4) connector.

Which ones should i be connecting?

Could it be due to my front usb connector, which i think has shorted?

20 pin to the 20 pin and one of the 4 pins from the (2x4) to the sperate 4 pin slot.

In both instances the additional 4 pins should click off form the plugs for this reason and they just hang spare. Not sure if this makes sense?

Yeh that's what i tried....

Wont boot up.

Could it be the 4 pins off the 24 pin that i should use?

It works fine with its original psu so i know components aren't dead.

There's your problem right there. :p

Get the Corsair CX400 if you can find it - the new CX series is woefully underpowered.

Why would that be the problem?

Considering my other PC boots up with it.

Im pretty sure its the connection, or maybe a compatability issue? Or are all PSU's universal?

What brand is it?

Most people agree that any PSU from the purple shirt brigade is bound to be crap. All PC PSUs adhere to the ATX standard nowadays.

I get that it might not be the best PSU, but its still going to supply power to my PC... So because it's not doing that im led to believe it's something else.

They're not just going to sell PSU's that don't even work are they? lol

Thanks for the input though mate :)

Edited. Sorry.

Not grassing you up or anything, just pointed it out before one of the admins does.

I also bought a PSU from that store you mentioned before ages ago. Wasn't the best, and as one of their techs openly pointed out when I was in there with my g/f before Xmas

'We don't cater for the enthusiast market'.

His statement was backed up by the fact they had a 3D Vision system on show that was powered by a single GTX450, and none of them seemed to have a single clue how to use it.
