Although not been a problem so far have decided to err on side of caution and retire Hiper 580R PSU - Either retain as spare or sell

So looking for replacement to power todays machine :-
Asus A8N32 Delux
Opteron185 @2.79
2x250gb Hitachi sata (raid 0) + 80gb Exelstor sata
2x1gb Ballistix pc4000
X-fi music
512mb 8800gt
dvd rw drive
dvd drive
fan control
4x120 fans (includes cpu fan)
3x80 fans
coolermaster stacker internal fan - cools motherboard/ram etc

Next probable upgrades are sli 8800gt's + blue ray drive.

Also thinking next gen of quad core etc

Am not bothered about modular and for its price /power ratio am not overly impressed with the corsair 620w model. ( nvidia do not license it as capable of powering 8800gt sli either)

My first choice is

the OCZGameXStream 700w Silent Silent psu

and as an alternate

the Corsair TX 750w Sli

Would appreciate members thoughts on both and any alternates - If I can save a few £ why not? ( would not be interested in spending more than £100).:)

I would normally suggest the Corsair HX 620w, regardless of whether Nvidia officially licence it or not the PSU is easily capable, Corsair themselves have demonstrated so on more than one occasion.

However if you really don't want it then there isn't much point in me saying otherwise. I think the two selected are probably your best options under £100, PC Power and Cooling do a 750w PSU for about £105 and the Antec Quattro 850w is about £115 so both over your budget. The Thermaltake Toughpower 750w might be worth a look though and is in budget.

Seasonic M12-700 or Corsair HX620. I have the Seasonic in my system and its a superb PSU. I also had a look at the PC Power and cooling too but opted for a modular PSU instead.

In end bought a Coolermaster real Power 700 - got a good deal.

Seems stable and quiet - so far.

Cable management is much easier than with Hiper - have not used as many and the way it fits together means you know no particlar circuit is being overloaded ( Hiper flow charts I found somewhat confusing and they bred doubts in my mind as to exactly what I could attach by way of extensions etc)

We shall see ; early days but at moment looks good

Would say thanks for your replies - very nearly bought the Corsair 620 but would have cost an extra few £ which I decided it was not worth; the ocz I decided against because a few former owners I spoke to advised it could be a bit noisy. The seasonic also tempted but cost ruled it out.

Your input was much appreciated
