i'm needing to update my PSU.
my cheap unit isn't sufficiant to support any 8800's and up.

so i'm looking around and didn't know what is best for myself to be able to run and 8800gtx/9800gtx (once i've purchased one) and everything else in my sig.

i'm looking at http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-008-CS and was wondering if this is a decent buy or if they can recomend anything else at around the same price

at that price, i dont think theres much that has the same performance/stability/reputation for your needs as that corsair psu.

though if you want modular psu take a look at the hx620 by corsair. pretty much the same psu but with modular connections (god send if you love cable management/want a tidy case. ive got the hx520 and im under the impression that it will run a gtx no problem. not sure myself though.

Can't go wrong with corsair, good warrenty, decent customer service, stable, great quality, works a treat. i could go on. i was in the same situation as you a while back...learn the lesson "psu must never be skimped on" and you'll be fine. you will feel better if you got something with more than you needed, just for head room.

thanks for the feedback. what is the difference between the HX and the TX?

Modular/Not modular and they are made by different companies. :) So it's NOT basically the same PSU. The modular one is better, made by Seasonic.

alows you to only attach the cables you need. Unless you have a see through panel. It's over rated. AL though it is easier to keep tidy.

Bust way is just buy the best you can afford. Work out how much you want to spend, then buy the best.

gotta start somewhere i suppose.

at least this forum gives you answers and people actually reply to your quieries.

yeah , good init ;)

so yep, a corsair 650w would be fine for your setup if your not bothered about modular and its at a very low price for such a quality psu.

my suggestion: buy it! , you can probably tidy the excess cables away with ease if you have a big case and spare drive bays.
