Bought a new Corsair CX600. This is the first time I have replaced my PSU since my system was built by my bro.

I have heard of bad cases where people buy a new PSU and it just go's BANG and takes out all the components connected to it.

What is some safety precautions I can take before I plug everything into it?

Would just powering it up by itself be ok?

if you connect a fan to the psu, then bridge the 24 pin connector (paper clip to the green wire, bridge to any black ground wire), then you can power on the psu with nothing else connected..

Failing that, you'd need a psu tester..

but really, PSU's don't often go bang right out of the box, you only hear the negative stories because people don't bother too much writing "it works" stories..

if you listened to all the horror stories about cars, you'd never go near the roads..
