I'm building a new set up, and would like a more modern PSU. My current one is an OCZ from around 2012..

I've got myself a bit confused about the whole thing.

I'm building in a Fractal Pop mini air.
I was thinking a 750 would be ample but from there I'm a bit lost.

Thanks.

What are you putting in it (or might plan to put in it, over the next 5 years)? Hard to give you any meaningful advice without that information.
Told you I'd got confused
I've got an i5 13400, 16gb DDR 5 ram, currently a gtx 1070 (I only got it second hand about a month ago) 2 Sata SSds,
Plus the RGB bits in the case - 3 fans and a controller.
Probably only real upgrade will be a better gfx card in the future and maybe 32gb ram.

750 is perfectly fine for that, but I'd get an ATX 3.0/PCI-E 5 one, ideally, because then you'll have a native 12/16 pin for something like a 4070 Ti. You can also buy a 'native' cable for many PSUs, but that would add around £15-£20 to the cost.

If I google the specs for your case, it says ATX is fine (so doesn't need to be SFX?) and it has a max PSU length of 150mm.

Something along these lines
Atx 3.0/pcie5 for future proofing
850w is more than you need currently
But again for future proofing
10 year warranty
That's my general rule of thumb for new psu
If they give 10 year warranty
They have faith in their products
Plus even if its more than you wanted to pay
Once you work it out over 10 years its not expensive
From a manufacturer such as bequiet, seasonic etc

The main new aspect for buying a PSU is it needs to be a strict ATX 3.0 design which most don't have yet.

If a PSU is equipped with at least one 12VHPWR connector, it's design should have been upgraded to support transient loads of 2x and some are saying up to 3x for GPUs in the future.

A lot of pre-ATX3.0 PSUs appear to be rebranded as ATX3.0 compliant and we know this because they don't yet have the 12VHPWR connector. This is fine if you know it but otherwise it could be considered false advertising.
