I have just put together my water cooling and i have connected the little adapter to my power supply so that i can power the pc up and not the board etc and have tested that there is power by connecting an led to the feed i am using fo my dcc 18w ultra pump and nothing not spinning or anything?

Any suggestions is there something i am missing? like i said its new delivered today so hopefully you aint going to tell me the pump has been delivered dead ??

Did you put a new top on it if so the screws could be to tight also check the pins in the molex as they can move a bit when you press them in to the psu cable.

to be honest if you do have a sticky one its not a huge issue, not one I would consider draining a loop and returning a pump for BUT it is ever so slightly possible that if your pc crashes or you switch it off it could stick again.

this is a very common (I've had 3+ do it) problem with these pumps, to the point where there's no guarantee the replacement would be any better.

I just thought it was better to add a disclaimer because I found out the hard way years ago when my pc crashed during clocking, I rebooted it and it all started up fine but the pump didn't.. I noticed when I had a gfx card at 80c and the water was almost boiling.

A quick whack and it always ALWAYS worked but it was something to remember.

I guess if it was me, and it was brand spanking new then I might consider changing it. Mind you it would probably be easy to rig up the rpm indicator to a fan and have that shut down the pc if it booted at 0 rpm.

i purchased it with the top pre-fitted the xspc resevoir. I have slightly loosend the 4 screws and tapped it and still nothing ?? Any more ideas

all switched on, filled with water?

its less of a tap and more of a tw@, maybe 2 or 3.. try that and if its still not working then its buggered.

More tips! (in useful mode tonight) get a pair of AA batteries (if you're using 1/2" or 7/16" tubing and you should be able to whip the pump off and block the tubes with the batteries rather than draining the loop.

i am using 3/8 tubes and the system has no coolant in it because the pump has not worked from the start ? Had the resevour full before trying to start it though

I really dont want to have to send it back time etc can i not take the top off and spin it by hand ?? to free it and then put top back on and try it? as I had the top pre-fitted to save me doing it :s

Is the impeller (fan with magnet) loose? As in not pushed into the pump all the way?

I had the same problem with a Hydor pump, Luckily My mum(when I lived with my mum)
had a plumber in fitting new central heating so I cheekiily asked him to take a look at my watercooling and he fixed it in 2 seconds by just pushing the impeller in till it clicked into place.
