 As in title cannot boot computer up(friends computer), all components installed and we see the fans spin for a milisecond and then it switches off completely. This is really important any suggestions or ideas much appreciated.

well the case is in the "OCUK aplus twin engine gaming case." I'll check to see if u r correct but as i believe everything is in securely. btw, u know the two pin connectors for the power button and the reset/power led's? do they need to be pugged in, in any specific order?

Yep, the single/2 pin plugs from case to motherboard ago in a very specific order and place. Make sure you look at the motherboard manual for the right places for the plugs.

After you've made sure the single/2 pin connectors are correctly in, try again.

If it still doesn't work then try the PSU from the old case in the new case.

make sure the power switch is on as if i turn my psu off i get a 1 second spin when i power on sounds stupid but people have forgot less

there wasn't a psu with my new case, so i am using my old psu. However, my motherboard did not come with a manual as it came from a shop built PC. (PC world, lol) do u know any general order that the two pin connectors go in? i have three connectors (power sw, reset sw and hdd led) btw, thank you so much for your help so far. *** u like a picture of *** i hav done thus far?

I take it there's nothing printed around the pins indicating 'P/SWTCH', 'POWER LED' etc.
See if there are any identifying codes on the Mobo, like a make and model number. I guess if it's an OEM motherboard there's less likelihood of there being branding on it. If that's the case, then look for a serial number and google it and see if that brings any joy; perhaps you'll be able to get hold of a copy of the manual that way.

sounds like the common shorting issue, are you using motherboard standoffs and are they in the right places?

standoffs being the ones that are the big holes yeh i saw them, but one problem the motherbaord when in them does not allign correctly to the case

Probably that then, fitted new system into case- acted like yours. Took it out, placed motherboard on a piece of cardboard and it booted ok.

The motherboard doesn't appear to comply with mATX or ATX standards if it's not aligning correctly. Hardly surprising if it came from an off the shelf PC.

You'll want to remove the motherboard again, and remove any spacers (the gold bracket things with holes that you screwed into the case) which don't align with the board, then try and screw the board in again.

Failing that, you'll need to change the motherboard.

The problem has been resolved, :D the motherboard was short circuiting, my friend inserted the gold screws into the area where u screw the motherboard onto the case. Thanx for the support
