Hi all,

I took the leap and purchased a set of PX5s as my Roccat Kave's were really uncomfortable and not wireless. I had read that these produced great quality and were all-round great headphones. I have them now and are having one or two problems with them. Firstly I only want to use them for PC, I know they're mainly for consoles but a lot have them for PC and they work well for them (but not for me yet). The problem I have is that I can't get 7.1 surround sound at all. Firstly I have the transmitter box plugged into my Supreme FX X-FI sound card (that came with my motherboard) using an optical SPDIF cable. I can get stereo sound to the headset no problem, and it sounds average if i'm honest. I know realise that optical cables only use stereo and the sound must be coded to support DD 7.1 etc... The transmitter box for my PX5s encodes the sound with DD Pro Logic IIx yet still no surround sound. I have listened to various surround sound sources and still it is stereo. In my playback sound settings I have the SPDIF option selected and under the advanced tab it is on 2 channel, 16bit 44100 Hz. I have tried many drivers and software for my sound card. The official ones, modded ones, PAX ones and selected 7.1 surround sound on the creative X-FI MB control panel but still no change. I have used the newest Soundmax drivers with still no luck. Does anyone have any ideas to what I can do to get them to work how they should??? I have my soundcard plugged in to the black PCI slot on the Asus Rampage II extreme, with a toslink cable going from the sound card to the digital in port on the transmitter box. In some cases the sound sounds better if I bypass the dolby digital pro logic IIx.

Thanks :)

EDIT: just plugged it into my PS3 and it still sounds the same... can't get surround sound to work, even when playing a blu-ray movie supporting 5.1 SS. It just sounds really tinny and rubbish tbh.
