So how are the people who bought there Q6600 yesterday getting on with overclocking, i've just put mine up to 2.8Ghz on 1.35v and working fine, still need to do a long test but been using the comp today, shall run prime later when i'm out. Temps are 38-42 idle 48-52 load, thats on water but will need time for articsilver to settle. Also seriously considering laping the cpu as it wasn't even close to being flat.

Hoping to get 3.2 from mine atleast. happy to see 60c when on load so got a bit to go still.

You should get ~3.3ghz on water. The Q6600's can handle upto 70c under load without any problems.

It's just that keeping it below 70c once you starting adding vcore can be a little tricky.

After a long run on prime temps up to 57oC load.... deffinately getting toasty
That's nothing at all for quad, would be good for c2d... i wasn't bothered to see mine hit 75 but i had 1.52 through mine.

out of interest, why are people saying quads are fine for upto 70c when they are essentially just 2 core2's which people seem to say to try n keep below 60c

I heard Core 2 inc quad is rated by Intel to run at 100c for 12 years & the mobo usually blows first.

Though I gotta say when I've seen mine hit 95c during testing I got nervous :p

Got mine at 3Ghz now at 59c load so very happy with that. Got the voltage set at 1.375 in the bios but got somo serous droop as it only registers as 1.31.

Never had that much droop with this board when i had my C2D, but doesn't seem to be effecting the stability. Onwards to 3.2!!!

What you getting Easy, or you sticking with your E2150 until proper quads are out??

will be getting a Q6600

IMO its a no brainer for the money.

And people are stioll thinking of getting a 6850!

maddness!

Having MB problems with mine but not concerned about the chip as Ive just seen it do 3ghz at 1.35v in a mates rig incidently comparing temps between speedfan and coretemp it was exactly 15c correction needed to get speedfan inline with coretemp.

Will be very interesting to compare with it's "arch-nemesis" dual-core E6850 when that starts getting out there in quantity.

If Moron's experiences are typical then 3Ghz at 59C with water is frankly frightening and I doubt many people are going to get near 3Ghz on air without silly temps. If, OTOH, the E6850 clocks upwards of 3.5Ghz on air with reasonable temps that could swing the decision for a lot of people.

I await more results with interest! :)

59C at 3Ghz is very hot, mine at 3.4 only goes to 48-50c under prime 95.

I've got 2gig HZ G Skill and 2gig corsair ballistix 6400, both at 3,3,3,9

Now up at 3.2Ghz with temps at 60c. 1.34v

Oh and its watercooling but not expenisve watercooling so don't expect it to be much better than a good air cooler.

I got mine running on a Asus P5k Deluxe with 2 gig Crucial Ballistix 8500 and a Thermalright 120 Ultra Extreme with a Scythe S-Flex 1600RPM fan .

Its overclocked to 3 gig and mine is running between 40-43oC idle and underload about 58-60oC
