I will be buying these parts sometime this week or next; just want to know if all of the components will work together.

--All parts are going into a Antec P182--

Also some questions;

1. What does OEM mean; there are two Q6600 CPU's on OC's website and the OEM one is cheaper, why?

2. I don't play much PC games; some here and there (got PS3), but i have picked the 8800 GTS instead of the 8800 GT due to noise level. However the price of the Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 3870 XT 512MB is very good i want to go with ATi because of price and spec.
But i have heard due to the crappy drivers for the Ati cards the performance is not as good as the GT or GTS, will they make a huge difference; because i really like the 3870 XT's price?
 
the OEM has a shorter warranty and no stock cooler, personally i say it is better to get the retail one as the price difference isnt too much and the longer warranty may be useful in the future.

i would also suggest a corsair HX520 for a PSU as it is one of the highest recommended PSUs on this forum and they are very good.

for RAM, pc2-6400 stuff is sutible for a quad overclocked to over 3ghz, pc2-8500 stuff is only needed for good timing or stupidly high OCs of about 4GHz or more
 
thanks for answering the first question. About the ram, i will not be overclocking the cpu; will i still be getting better performance with pc2-6400 than 8500?
 
for ram, the performance is due more to the timings (the 4 numbers you may see stated such as 4,4,4,12) rather then the frequency. the ram with the lower timing will give you the better performance.
 
i would go for a 2x2GB kit as it will give you an option of 8GB of ram if you need and if you do decide to OC, it will allow for better OCing. no matter which ram you choose, you will not be pushing it over its limits if you are not OCing unless you set the divider to some stupid number that pushs the ram above what it can handle

If they're overclocking - they might aswell save a few quid and get the OEM as OC'ing will void their warrant so the extra £££ they spent will go to waste. If they're not, they might aswell get the retail and use the stock cooler.

Yes to the PSU. and Yes to the 6400 RAM.
 
with the psu, i am choosing to use the antec one because of the way the cabels come out of it (left-hand side) which allows me to use the P182's cable mangement system better. Also the air flow of the antec psu is better for my case, if i were to use the corsair psu the fan would be facing the bottom of the case due to the way i want to manage the cables.
 
Ok, heres the final specs; all this is comming up to £703.66 which is just in my price range:

EDIT - i am getting the OcUK GeForce 8800 GT 512MB GDDR3 instead of the ATi 3870 for the same price.
