Hi all,

Im wanting to replace my old radiators for new ones so I've measured them up and they are strange sizes. One is 1450mm rather than 1400 or 1500mm. Will I be OK buying a 1400mm or 1500mm or will I need a plumber to do some extra work?

You may have imperial radiators which would explain the strange sizes. Imperial radiators are still available but will probably cost more.

You can buy radiator tail extensions that would make up the difference if the pipes can't be moved. This sort of thing...

Just measured one of the 2 in the living room and it's 1900mm yet all I can find are 1800 and 2000mm radiators. What a pain in the back side.

Would I need be on to buy the 1800mm radiator and buy 2 if the above for it?

It should work. You can buy longer extensions if necessary.

Making up 100mm is getting to the point where I'd be getting my blowtorch out and doing it properly.

I have exactly the same situation.

Our hall radiator is 1900mm long so have bought an 1800mm rad and 2 50mm chrome extensions

Once I lift the floorboards at the weekend I'll see if there is any give in the pipes and how the new tad, TRV and valve sit. Ideally will be just the one extension piece if not then some fettling of the pipework and as a fall back have the second extender

How did you get on? Also where did you order the radiators from?
