Hello

Just had my order come today but think i may have an issue with the memory

I've installed my 16 gig ram GeIL Black Dragon 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit (GD316GB1333C9DC) **OcUK Ex

I was using GeIL 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz VALUE PLUS Dual Channel (GVP38GB1600C9DC)

System i have
Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor
Asus P8P67 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION **

I seem to have a problem somehow with the ram i think ?

My computers crashed several times through out the day couple of them were memory management issues . Browsers ( firefox ) has crashed a few times to and VMware work station i used has total crashed has worked fine for months .

pc screenshot

I reseated the memory and there both seated fine and there in the correct positions the blue sockets as the manual suggests to do . In the bios i have the memory timings and voltage to auto which I've always had on.
I doh have the option to select the 1333MHz which i did but it made no difference at all

So after a frustrating few hours i thought I'd re-download windows 10 put it on a usb stick and reinstall it. Well it wasn't having any of it it kept crashing locking up and then when it wanted to verify the windows download it crashed and rebooted .

So i though I'd stick the old ram back in and try and download windows on the usb stick and it's downloaded fine to the same USB stick.

I couldn't even install an OS on a Virtual machine as it kept crashing but soon as i put my old Ram in it's fine ? I ran memory diagnostic on the new memory and it was fine?

Getting this on a VM machine i was trying to reinstall windows 10 on but installed fine when i removed the new ram and put my old ram back in my machine

Can you help me please I'm not sure what's going on and getting frustrated now .

Thank you

It looks like your new ram is faulty. Try memtest86 from a bootable USB/CD. If that shows a boat load of errors, you'll have to return it.

try with one stick of 8gb , you may need more mem voltage (imc voltage setting in bios not sure what its called )as its now running 2x8

I did select 1333mhz in my bios to try it and it did nothing yesterday as it was always on auto ?

Thanks

Yeah went to the shop and swapped them with some Corsair DDR3 1600 all runs fine now .

Thanks for your help and advice everyone.
