New RAM... MORE LAG!

Ok, a few days ago, I had to reset my motherboard BIOS by taking out the battery, etc.

The reason why is said in this thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=21590229#post21590229

Anyway, after doing that, I installed the new RAM, (went from 4GB to 8GB) it shows up fine in systeminfo and things like that, and even shows up in the BIOS. (However, for some strange reason, in the BIOS menu, in the MIT intelligent tweaker menu or whatever it's called, 2 of the RAM channels are 'greyed out'... if that makes sense.

Anyway, I tried playing Battlefield 3, thinking it would slightly faster now that I have more RAM... but I have FPS lag. The same thing happens in ARMA 2 Operation Arrowhead. I used to be able to play Battlefield 3 before at 45- 70 fps on average. Could even record with fraps.

I can play other games fine. And I don't really want to have to take my RAM out... because I shouldn't have to, right? I'm guessing it must be some kind of BIOS setting?

Also, for some reason my motherboard sets my 1600mhz RAM to 1333mhz... so I also manually changed that to its correct setting in the BIOS. I had this setting when I had my 4GB's of RAM.

The new RAM sticks which were installed were bought from a friend, so they are second hand and he had been using them for about a month.

This is the RAM I am using: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-203-CS

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) [CMX4GX3M2A1600C9]

If anyone could help, would be much appreciated. Seems like a weird problem to have in my opinion, but yeah, any input would be great :)

1st) The new RAM that you have put in is the same as the old RAM right ?

2nd) When your in the main menu on the BIOS you can try pressing Ctrl + F1 that usually
brings up some more settings.

I assume you have a 64 bit version of Windows so that you can use the 8GB?

Post a screenshot of the memory tab from CPU-Z so we can see exactly what settings the RAM is running at.

Your RAM is running fine.

Correct timings of 9-9-9-24.

Correct speed of 1600MHz (802.4MHz x 2 as it's Double Data Rate).

All 8GB is being recognised.

You could try 1T instead of 2T but it only makes the tiniest difference and 2T is more stable. I'd leave it.

Whatever problems you're having wouldn't appear to be RAM related unless one or more sticks is faulty.

tested each ram stick one at a time in each white ram slot one at a time?

what dram and qpi/vtt voltages are you using?

they shouldnt be greyed out, first you need to pull all the modules out and test one by one in each white slot to see that all the ram modules are working

if they areplug them all back in and try raising qpi/vtt voltage to 1.2v,then see if all the ram shows up

What is confusing me is that only 2 channels are showing up in the BIOS while the other 2 channels are greyed out. :S

No idea.

What matters is what your OS is seeing.

CPU-Z is reporting 8GB.

Start the Task Manager.

Click Resources Monitor and then the Memory tab.

Does it show 8192MB installed?

I couldn't find the whole resources thing in task manager, but this is what it says under performance:

Total - 8109
Cached - 2567
Available - 5299
Free -2925
