New RAM not working, unsure why

So I recently just bought some new RAM, 2 sticks each with 4GB on them, a total of 8GB. The problem is they don't work, and I'm unsure whether this is due to a compatibility problem or a motherboard/faulty RAM problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The current RAM I'm using is 1 stick of 2GB (

RAM: Kingston - KHX1600C9D3K2/8G - Memory - DDR3 1600 - 8GB HyperX CL9 KVR Kit2
Motherboard: MSI 790FX-GD70

Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try a clearCMOS to reset any BIOS settings back to default, (you might have adjusted something thats causing issues) if that dont work then send the RAM back.

I've tried to clear CMOS and reset my BIOS settings to 'optimal defaults' and just when things started to look good it just fails to do anything and I'm forced to reboot, whereupon I'm forced to redo the clear CMOS malarky.
The RAM is working as well, so my only thoughts here are because (and this is a long-shot from a non computer savvy person) the motherboard is overclocked and the RAM that was in it before is also overclocked to suit and maybe it's just not able to fully use the new RAM? Like I said, I'm in no way computer savvy so this is just one big guess.

Other than me actually taking my computer to a professional to sort it out, is there any last thing I could try to get it working?

Mucho appreciation for any help given.

Your motherboard runs 1600MHz RAM at an overclocked setting so perhaps try for 1333MHz first to get it working.

Using your existing RAM go into the BIOS and enter the following manually:

DRAM speed 1333MHz
Command Rate: 2T or 2N
tCL: 9
tRCD: 9
tRP: 9
tRAS: 27
DRAM voltage 1.5V

Save the settings and the computer will restart.

Go straight back into the BIOS and then just hold the power buttom down and the computer will switch off.

If you can't get back into the BIOS with those settings and your old RAM don't worry about it just hold down the power switch and turn off the computer.

Either way it should have saved settings that will work with the new RAM.

Now take out the old RAM and insert just 1 stick of the new RAM.

Start your computer and see how you get on.

If it works try adding the second stick.

If it all goes pear shaped then clear the CMOS, put your old RAM back in and you should be back to where you started.

Your instructions worked perfectly. It took a little fiddling around with, but I managed to figure out that one stick was faulty and the other one works. I can say without doubt, and no homo, that I would totally S your D for helping me out with this problem, you're the best! <3

Now to bring the other stick back and get my complete 8gb instead of the 4gb I'm on now, but hey, that beats the **** out of 2gb :P

Thanks again! <3

You're welcome.

The bad news is that as you do have a faulty stick then you'll likely have to send them both back if they were supplied as a dual channel kit.

You could try a little more DRAM voltage and see if that helps.

I'm pretty sure those sticks require 1.50V for 1333MHz but not 100%.

Try a little more but any more than 1.60V and I'd say it's not going to get you anywhere.
