new ram what can i replace it with?

1 GB DDR-2 PC2-4200 (533 MHz) ECC (2 x 512 MB)

thats what i have are there limits to what i can put in apart from physical numbers of slots, i have 4,

how do i know what speed i can get up to?
 
Do you know what make and model your motherboard is? If so then look on the manufacturers website or somewhere like that and it should say what speed and how much ram it can support. If not find out what make and model it is and do the same ^^
 
I would buy a new motherboard and system, the HP's are very limited on upgradeability!

HP prefer you to buy a new system £££££££££
