I am currently running 4x1GB Sticks and I want to upgrade to either 2x2GB or 4x2GB.

What is the current king of the roost in £/performance please?

The kingston is great for the price.

The best are OCZ blade low voltage though..

However, I'm not sure why you are bothering "upgrading" your DDR2 as DDR3 is becoming standard now.

EDIT: Apologies, it's only DDR2 compatible - i clicked on the wrong MB spec link for info...

Is my board DDR3 compatible?

What is the full tiltle of your MB as i've seen later model revisons with 2 slots for DDR3 memory? (4 x DDR2 slots and 2 x DDR3)

If it did have the DDR3 slots it would still only run in dual channel and you would be restricted to only 4gig.

Flick through the manual it should confirm this.

I would have said go for some OCZ Platinums or Corsair Dominator DDR2-1066 but I just tested some of that Kingston HyperX DDR-1066 and it is actually good memory, the two sets I have are happy to run at full speed using 1.8vDimm which is pretty good.

As gurusan said the OCZ Blades DDR2-1150 are very appealing and great for a serious overclocker but quite costly although £60.00 is actually a great price for a 4GB(2x2GB) dual-channel DDR2 kit that runs out the box at 575MHz and by all accounts overclock to 600MHz without too much fuss!

You need to have a careful think about your rig and are you gonna run with it for the next 6-12 months, if so then it makes perfect sense swapping-out your 4x1GB's for 2x2GB's and then selling your older kits to offset the cost.

I think we can expect to see DDR2 prices rising now as DDR3 drops and becomes more affordable which means that a 4GB DDR2 kit purchased sharpish could prove to be a good investment and you may be able to see it down the line for more than you paid for it, maybe even make a profit (rubs ears!) :p
