New/renewed contracts with O2 - is there traffic shaping?

Hi all,

Hoping for some clarification here. I've had O2 Home Broadband for three years now (I started on one of the old 'legacy' contracts), and since the end of the first year I've been month-to-month. Recently, whilst on the phone to O2 trying to fix a technical problem, the guy informed me that if I renewed my contract I'd get the exact same service I have now, but be paying a couple of quid less a month (currently £9.50 as I'm an O2 mobile customer). Additionally, they're currently offering 12 months Xbox Live, 2100 Live points and some free games to any new/renewed contracts. Tempting, to say the least.

My question is this: Would I actually receive a worse service by renewing? I can't really put up with any traffic shaping or P2P blocks or anything like that so I'll happily keep paying £9.50 if it means I'm getting a 'pure' service. So far I've found THIS on the O2 website which seems to suggest that as long as I'm on 'The Works' package, I shouldn't notice any difference.

Has anyone who's made the transition from the old legacy deals to one of the new ones (or is just using a new contract) post their experiences? The Xbox offer is only on until the end of the month so I'd like to decide soon.

Thanks.

The Works package doesn't have any shaping. They removed it a while ago.

So presumably that would essentially be exactly what I'm getting now? If that's the case, I'll go for it, providing they can give me a decent deal on it anyway!

Edit: Done, will now be paying £10.50 per month (an extra £1), but the Xbox stuff is worth more than that alone so it works out rather cheap really.
