I'm putting together a new gaming PC and would like someone to validate the below looks ok or make some suggestions.

I'm a bit new to overclocking and have relied on the software OC option to get the most out of the CPUs I've had. I've also just heard that there is a new release of Haswell and Z97... would it be worth considering that if I need to purchase in the next few weeks?

I also need to get a case so any advice on that?

Processor: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor
Cooler: Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator CPU Cooler
MotherBoard: Asus Z87 SABERTOOTH Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard
RAM: TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit
HD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM HDD
SSD: Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic
Hard DiskSeagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache
Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 WindForce 3x OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Wireless Card: Asus USB-N13 300Mbps Wireless Adapter
Power Supply : Corsair RM Series RM 850 '80+ Gold' 850W Power Supply (CP-9020056-UK)

Thanks for any help.

Hi jilazee,

Do you want 2 x Barracuda 2TB, or is one of them an error?

Assuming one's an error, this is how your basket looks:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £251.99
1 x Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 WindForce 3x OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (GV-N770OC-2GD) £239.99
1 x Asus Z87 SABERTOOTH Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £176.99
1 x Corsair RM Series RM 850 '80+ Gold' 850W Power Supply (CP-9020056-UK) £119.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLAD316G2133HC11ADC01) £119.99
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE120BW) £67.99
1 x Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator CPU Cooler £65.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) HDD £59.99
1 x Asus USB-N13 300Mbps Wireless Adapter £19.99
Total : £1,132.50 (includes shipping : £8.00).

You're over budget and don't have a case yet. Do you want help bringing the build down to £1000 or set budget at say £1200 including case?

Also, do you need Windows and optical drive at all?

Hi

If you are not purchasing for a few weeks then I would definitely wait for the upcoming unlocked cpu's. They should run a lot cooler than the current ones.

I think they are due around the middle part of June.

A couple of questions on your requirements:

Do you need a copy of windows ?

Are you planning on building this yourself ? Or are you looking for pre-built ?

Are you looking at running dual graphics cards in the future ? Or just the one ?

Are you set on Nvidia for the graphics card ? Or will you consider an AMD card ?

As for a case, the Bitfenix Ronin is a good mid range one. If you want something a bit roomier then the Corsair 540 is also a good choice.

Thanks for the quick replies you guys are great.

Over budget is fine, I'll be getting the VAT back, so ~£1100-1200 is fine.

Also, do you need Windows and optical drive at all? - No to windows yes to the OD.

2 x 2TB disk. That is an error with the two disks. I have a Synologoy NAS I use as an external backup so a single disk is fine.

Do you need a copy of windows?
I have a copy of Windows 7 Pro. I'll get around to sorting out a Win8 at some point in the future.

Are you planning on building this yourself ? Or are you looking for pre-built ?
I can build it myself so shouldn't be a problem.

Are you looking at running dual graphics cards in the future ? Or just the one ?
Might look to run dual in the future. I currently have a 660TI and an old 480GTX I think. I run my main monitor on the 660 and the 2nd on the 480.

Are you set on Nvidia for the graphics card ? Or will you consider an AMD card ?
I've always purchased Nvidia but if the benchmarks are worth it bang for buck wise I'd consider AMD.

Case wise I quite like the look of "Cooler Master Cosmos SE Mid Tower Case"

I think what lee meant by two GPU's was in SLI/Xfire, so two GTX 780's in SLI. This will improve frame rates on games, on one or more screens. :)

As for the case, that Cosmos is a poor choice, very little cooling and NO watercooling support, and really expensive for what it is. :)

If I had £1200 for a gaming rig, i'd do this:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Powercolor Radeon R9 290 PCS+ OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £319.99
1 x Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £239.99
1 x Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 5 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £109.99
1 x Seasonic M12II EVO Edition 850W '80 Plus Bronze' Fully Modular Power Supply £89.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H100i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CW-9060009-WW) £88.00
1 x BitFenix Ronin Tower Case - Black £69.95
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE120BW) £67.99
1 x Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C9 2133MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (CMY8GX3M2B2133C9R) £59.99

1 x Corsair SP120 Performance Series High Pressure - Dual Pack (CO-9050008-WW) £22.00

Yes I was referring to CF/SLI :)

Doomed has it spot on with that spec.

If you are not in a huge rush though, wait for the unlocked refresh cpu's.
