Hi guys, i think its about time i upgrade this rig, from the start i would like to point out conroe is out of the question :) a nice am2 x2 preferd, i have rough specs in mind.

sounds like a big budget but its got to get a whole base unit. would prefer a raptor for windows somthing around 200-500gig for storage, whatever you think best. just want general guidence :)

cheers guys

Why you dont want to go conroe is beyond me. Its far superior to the X2's and with your budget you can easily get a conroe spec(see above). It makes sense to go conroe with 1k to spend.

I am a loyal customer to AMD, the difference in performance at such a high range will be nothing noticeable. Besides dont fancy buying a new 775 head for the vapochill lol.

anyway regardless. just wanna see what peoples ideas are. dont worry bout it in that case

just one question, is it worth going with dual geforce 7950's? i could do it within budget considering all i need is a 3800+ or so

or how about dual x1950? i know this would be a strech at my budget but would be interesting to see if somone could do it :)

*edit*

this is gonna be used for gaming.

nothing else really worth mentioning, web browsing, music and such

a conroe 6600 will be near double as fast as your x2 3800, while it can be overclocked to triple speeds i recon, no point in getting a amd based system at the mo, also gains from cpu will be a lot greater as from sli/crossfire, betetr to get a beefier cpu reather than to get a 20% boost from 2 gfx cards.
Difference in performance will be noticable on most modern games (oblivion for example, or just cause wich is coming out soon), and future games.

u do know that your vapochill socket 939 head won't fit am2 neways? i'm a amd fan too but, what you mean it isn't noticeable performance at high range? a 6300 will keep up with a am2 fx62 lol and in some instances beat it! but if you really love amd that much then i'm sure someone will spec you a am2 rig

hehe, dw just a sarcie comment about the vapochill, i actualy still usiung socket 754! im ashemed, hence the upgrade. i just looked up and there arnt heads for am2! in that case i want the best water cooling money can buy :) well my money can buy. Anyway, For ME, as an end user the difference between the performance I will get out of an amd vs conroe rig is not great enough for me to lay my loyalties else where.

so, all in all its a no on SLI and crossfire, not worth it yeah? or .. i mean if i got the money i dont mind spending it (ill regret that)

cheers

yes, it is
you should
and why arn't you folding?

i beg your pardon?

forget i ever started the topic, if people don't have the maturity to respond, and listen to me repeatedly saying i am loyal to amd i just wont bother. jesus christ

hey, we're just telling you that there IS a difference between the top end AMD processors and the same money in intel processors.
sorry your too much of a fan boy (and don't start, all my current systems are AMD) to think straight.

and btw, you're not alowed to pimp your own forums, even if it is just a link in your sig.

in the eyes of defeat amd fanboys come out of the woodwork lol, to lay down their arms! hehe jkz

seriously though if you want an x2 get a 3800, nice dfi board some nippy g.skill 2gig of pc3200 zx, a x1900xt (the xtx isn't worth the extra), a tagan 700w psu and laugh yourself to sleep.

G.Skill, just the one x1900 :) sorted

cool i got it from there. thank you.

And VeNT look, you do not know me. you do not know ANYTHING about me. dont you DARE call me a fanboy. actualy i am a loyal AMD customer, god forbid. For reasons that are my own. i clearly stated i was looking for an amd spec so there was no need to even mention conroe was there? I dont want an argument, but please just do not assume you know anything about me. ever.

Fair play to the man! stand by your thoughts. Whos to tell you that you are wrong. It's your life. :)

Then again, for price to performance ratio, maybe listening to some people might not hurt?

No no your totaly right, bang for buck conroe's are coming out ontop atm, i do not dispute that! lol. just a bit upset becuase i am an AMD customer, i do note asspire to own an Intel cpu, however i do an AMD, regardless of anything, thats that

anyway, i got my answer! i can calm down now

-breathes deeply-

agreed, i dont agree with allec and i have expressed that price-performance conroe is better! HOWEVER he wants a Amd rig specc'd and that's what i did :)
go forth and play in fields of sandiego's and venice's!

Yeah that extra pound or two really makes a difference...

And besides.. Your PC could be the one that discovers a cure for Cancer.

well since i cant convince you to go conroe
